On Monday, Dr. Thomas Gennosa, who has lived in Tarboro four the past four years, will begin practicing in Tarboro as well, in his now office, the Family Medicine in Downtown Tarboro office at 107. W. St. John’s St., in the former Rose Cottage Books.
“I think people will really like what we have done to the inside,” said Gennosa, 42, who has been practicing in his offices in Robersonville since 2003. “It has still got a very homey feel, yet very modern.”
Gennosa, who went to medical school at the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y., said that he saw a need for a primary care and family medicine practice in Tarboro.
“A lot of folks leave and go out of town for primary care,” said Gennosa. “So there is a definite need.”
Gennosa added that he has had his eye on the building on St. John Street for quite some time.
“Every time I used to drive by the building I would think to myself that it would make a great little office,” Gennosa said.
A native of New York, Gennosa said he first spent time in the South when he did his family medicine training in Virginia.
“It really beat being in Buffalo, freezing my tail off,” said Gennosa. “I made a lot of friends in North Carolina and, well, the rest is history.
Gennosa said he feels that working in Tarboro will be as pleasant as living here.
“I love living in Tarboro,” said Gennosa. “The people here have been just great.”
Gennosa said that he will be working out of both of his offices in Robersonville and Tarboro.
Gennosa will be in his Tarboro office from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays, 2-6 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
Gennosa said his office accepts walk-ins as well as appointments and accepts most insurances and Medicare.
Gennosa’s offices number is 823-4300.
His office’s website is www.tarboro.familydoctors.net.
